In the U.S. state of Utah, Interstate 15 runs north - south through the southwestern and central portions of the state, passing through many of the population centers of that state, including St. George, Provo, Salt Lake City, and Ogden, the latter three being part of the urban area known as the Wasatch Front. It is the primary north - south highway in Utah, as the majority of the state's population lives along its corridor. The only Metropolitan Statistical Area in Utah not connected via I-15 is the Logan Utah-Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Much of the dazzling view are stipulated by the rock formations along the Interstate 89 South, which takes me south thourgh the villages of Jackson and Montpellier to the Interstate 15. In the afternoon almost half of the schedule has finished; this gives me the occasion to make an acrobatic tour along the Snake River, which downstream partly goes with me to Salt Lake City. The day is beautiful with a sun and 25 degrees centigrade. In Jackson it is time for a burger and a cola; haven't eaten since half six; however I took some water. At Alpine Junction the 26 West and 89 South splits up. It is the 89 South, which I must follow. I cross villages such as Freedom, Tayne and Groover. Villages with sometimes 200 inhabitants. If I stop after the village of Smoot, just as tp strech the legs, it remarks me how silent it is. And, how splendid the mountainous landscape is. The river has said farewell to me at Alpine Junction. It was the first Interstate Highway project in the United States. I-70 approximately traces the path of US Route 40 (and also the old National Road) east of the Rocky Mountains. West of the Rockies, the route of I-70 was derived from multiple sources. I-70 is the fifth longest Interstate Highway, after I-90, I-80, I-40, and I-10. I-70 was initially envisioned to go through downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but now traverses its southern suburbs; its planned route was later incorporated into I-376, as well as parts of I-76 and I-79. I-70 also overlaps I-79 near the Pittsburgh suburb of Washington, Pennsylvania for 3 miles (4.8 km). The 38 miles (61 km) of I-70 between Washington, Pennsylvania and New Stanton, Pennsylvania is a sub-standard section of the highway. This section of I-70 used to be Pennsylvania Route 71. It is characterized by sharp curves, limited sight distance, narrow shoulders, and lack of merge lanes at interchanges. Traffic on clover leaf ramps must weave in the right through lane of traffic due to the lack of a third lane for entering and exiting traffic. Other on and off ramps effectively function as RIRO, making for a nervewracking entrance if traffic is approaching.
