Italy and West Germany clashed in Group A of the Second Round, each playing their first match. The two sides had met on October 8th 1977 in an exciting friendly in Berlin (highlights are on WadeMcDuffin's YouTube channel) where Germany 2-1. There were no goals this time around and the lack of a win would contribute to Italy failing to make the final. But it's a thrilling match with amazing goalkeeping at both ends by veterans Zoff and Maier. Spanish commenary.
