'Brooklyn South' is an American ensemble police drama series that aired on CBS for only one season during the 1997-98 television season. The series was co-created by Steven Bochco, Bill Clark, David Milch and William M. Finkelstein. Bochco is the creator of many well-known police dramas such as Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue. Milch was Bochco's co-creator for NYPD Blue. Finkelstein and Clark both also worked on NYPD Blue.

The series attempted to create a setting of a gritty, realistic police station similar to that of NYPD Blue, but differed by focusing on the uniformed police officers rather than the detectives. The pilot of Brooklyn South was noted as the first TV-MA rated episode on broadcast television.

New York City bicyclists repaint 14 blocks of bike lane on Bedford Avenue. The Take Back Our Bike Lanes Campaign is a coalition of bike commuting citizens unaffiliated with any established organization who came together to challenge the sudden removal last week of the bike lane on Bedford Avenue between Flushing and Division in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We want to clarify misrepresentations in the press that the conflict about the Bedford Avenue bike lane is between the Hasidic and hipster communities in Brooklyn. It is not. The real conflict is between the citizens of the City more broadly and certain corrupt government officials. The Bedford Avenue bike lane has provided safety for bike commuters en route to the Williamsburg Bridge. Although New York law gives bicyclists the right to ride on City streets regardless of whether there is a bike lane, the DOTs unannounced removal of this bike lane has endangered those who use Bedford Avenue as the main artery between their own neighborhoods and the Williamsburg Bridge. The affected neighborhoods include Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, and Flatbush - some of the poorest areas of the City. The Citys removal of the bike lane resulted from a quid pro quo between certain religious leaders and the Bloomberg administration. Without consulting the community at large, Bloomberg sacrificed the safety of bike riders in the name of appeasing a special interest group. His back-door deal, made in the run-up to the mayoral election, sacrificed the ...

(4.25.11) MURDER CAUGHT ON TAPE/MISTAKEN IDENTITY? Hoping for help from the public in the hunt for a killer, the NYPD released a chilling surveillance video Monday that depicts a brutal murder on a Brooklyn sidewalk over the weekend. It happened next to the Crown Fried Chicken at 2085 Nostrand Avenue around 7:40 pm Saturday. Surveillance footage shows 24-year-old Trevonne Winn leaning up against the wall of a Flatbush, Brooklyn, Baptist church when the gun-toting suspect exits a store wearing a grey or brown hoodie, dark pants, and possibly jeans. He turns on his victim and, without warning, opens fire. Trevonne Winn was visiting the city from his home in South Carolina, staying with family in Brooklyn and working in Manhattan. Tracey Winn, Trevonne Winn's mother, flew to New York Monday morning from South Carolina. She told PIX 11 News, "This was very senseless; he doesn't know anyone here in New York to be looked upon to be shot." When cops arrived they found Trevonne Winn shot in the torso. He was declared dead on arrival at King's County Hospital. Winn told PIX 11 News that she'd warned her son about visiting New York. She was fearful of the big city dangers but she never imagined she'd be here weeks later preparing her son's funeral. "We don't know how we're going get him back home, we need some kind of donation, anything that we can get to get him home and bury him safe." The victim's cousin, Chanel Isaac, told PIX 11 News, "It's not right for him to just die like ...

South Georgia Peanuts hitting coach Larry Olenberger discusses some of the league's problems with manager Wally Backman. Specifically, the two were referring to multiple instances where the opposing manager didn't know the National League rules and/or made a lineup mistake during a pitching change. Under league rules, Backman could have had the opposing manager ejected from the game for the mistake, but he never did. During this conversation, the Peanuts were confined to the dugout in Anderson, SC during a pregame rain delay. Because of the rain, the team was not allowed on the field, but the field lacked a clubhouse - resulting in several hours of milling about the dugout. This is extra footage from "Playing for Peanuts" - a documentary TV series about minor league baseball. This is the best view of the actual storm coming in and hitting, not footage of the aftermath. We headed up to our rooftop, facing south/southwest, not knowing about the Tornado Warning, and saw menacing clouds coming from the south, south west. There was constant thunder, and we have heard people describe tornados as sounding like a train coming, and thats what we heard.... The thunder and lightening was constant, and there was an eerie feeling all around us. Once the rain came, we fled to our apartment and filmed out the window. 80 mph gusts rip through the trees. It was awesome and the true sense of the word. Check out my new website: www.kabelis.com

South Georgia Peanuts manager Wally Backman checks out the field during a pre-game rain delay. Backman declares the obvious - "It's muddy." It should be noted that the field was uncovered during the rain, because the groundscrew couldn't get the tarp onto the field. Rather than admit it, team staff members claimed the field needed water. Later that night, the skies opened up and the field was soaked again - and the groundscrew was forced to attempt to get the tarp onto the field... They failed.
