Shortly after 3am on June 4, 2010 dispatchers were receiving multiple calls for a fully involved occupied structure on Buffum Rd. A 2nd alarm for tankers was called on arrival as the large 2 sty house was fully involved in the nonhydrant district. All the occupants of the house escaped without injury. Mutual aid from Millville, Sutton, Blackstone, Upton, North Smithfield, RI and Douglas responded. www.providencefirevideos.com

The first half of my first attempt at making a video diary. This is a rainy day of carp fishing a section of the Blackstone River in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. I haven't had much luck here this year so it was nice to get some solid action, even though none were huge carp. I ended the day with 5 total averaging 11.8 pounds and the biggest coming in at 17 pounds 1 ounce.

I revisit the canal four days after the fish kill incident to capture some of the after math. At this point nature is slowly taking it's course. Soon there will be no sign of the incident at all..people will occasionally ask why they don't catch any perch or suckers in the canal, but on the whole most will not know what happened. This is why I wanted to capture footage of the incident. I am not out to slam anyone personally but I want to raise awareness in the hopes that things like this will not happen in the future. In this situation I would have been much happier if park staff and contractors acted with forethought for the ecosystem to hopefully prevent this, after it happened the staff should have been more willing to clean up the canal, compost the dead fish and be all around more apologetic for the mistakes made. Sadly this is not the first time something has gone wrong at the canal.. This took place at River Bend Farm, also known as the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park in Uxbridge Massachusetts. Contact them below; www.mass.gov

On June 28th through June 30th State employees as well as state contractors "accidentally" created a large scale fish kill. This incident is the direct result of incompetence and a lack of understanding of the ecosystems under state care. The staff's solution was to act like it did not happen and close the tow path in a feeble attempt to keep the public from seeing. Not only did the incident not need to happen, state employees had no intention of rectifying the situation once it had. This took place at River Bend Farm, also known as the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park in Uxbridge Massachusetts. Contact them below; www.mass.gov

Watch Part 2: www.youtube.com The Southern New England Trunkline Trail is a rail trail in Massachusetts. It occupies an abandoned railroad corridor running for approximately 22 miles (35 km) with an eastern terminus at Union Street in downtown Franklin, Massachusetts and a western terminus at the Connecticut state line in the Douglas State Forest, Douglas, Massachusetts. The trail cannot be followed from end to end, as almost all bridges, including those over major rivers, are unsafe or missing. The trail continues into Connecticut as the Airline State Park, which extends to East Hampton near the Connecticut River. It is a vital part of the southern New England rail trail system. The trail was designated as a National Recreation Trail in 1994, having been acquired in 1984 by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management. The surface of the trail is gravel ballast. The trail is designated for use by pedestrians, equestrians or non-motorized vehicles. The trail passes through the following towns in Massachusetts. Douglas Uxbridge Millville Blackstone Bellingham Franklin The songs in this video are "Bad Wolf Bay" and "The New Assistant" by Tom Milsom, used with permission of dftba.com where you can buy the CD!

It was a lovely morning at the Blackstone River and Canal ~ Heritage State Park ~ Riverbend ~ in Uxbridge Massachusetts. Last night we got 2" snow, it helped cover some of the ice,, which made it easier to take a walk. I believe the tracks I saw are from an Otter. We also stopped at Stanley Mills and took a short walk. There was a Turkey Vulture eating a dead Skunk. Turkey Vultures are not a Bird of Prey. They eat road kill. I know that this may be hard for some people to look at. Turkey Vultures tend to get a bad rap,,, they are an important part of the Food Chain. Blessings to the Skunk and Turkey Vulture. Last night I got a Ganesha Mala Beads at one of my favorite stores!! Artist: Project System 12 Song: Sparkling Water www.jamendo.com All the music on jamendo is available under Creative Commons licenses. Directions to Riverbend ~ Heritages State Park: From the East/West/Boston/Southeast: * Take Mass Pike (Rte. I-90) to exit #10A in Millbury, Rte 146 South. * Take Rte 146 S & follow for 12 miles to exit # 3, Route 16. * Turn left onto Rte 16 East and follow for 2 miles to the traffic lights. * Turn left onto Route 122 North and follow for 1-1/4 mile and then turn right at traffic light onto Hartford Ave. * In 1 mile, turn right onto Oak Street at the UMass Tri-River Family Health Center. * Visitor Center is 1/10 mile on the left in the red barn.

Accepting new exhibition proposals marks the first time that the gallery has opened its walls for proposals from Bostons Metro-West area artists. Bruce Wood, the gallerys director explains, There are many talented artists whom we do not know because they have had limited exhibition opportunities. Many of them have never had the opportunity to present a large body of their work, simply because they have been restricted to showing in group exhibitions. This is an opportunity for them to take control of their careers by ...
