William Wyche Fowler, Jr. (born October 6, 1940) is an American politician and ambassador. He is a member of the Democratic Party and served as U.S. Senator from Georgia from January 1987 to January 1993. He had previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1977 until his senatorial election.

From 1986, here is a political ad from Senator Mack Mattingly, the incumbent Republican Senator (and first Republican from GA post-Reconstruction) running for reelection. This one features Tony Griffin, a disabled person, who could have been caught under Medicaid red tape due to some hospital regulations. Mattingly lost reelection to Wyche Fowler, yet Reagan appointed him to NATO Assistant Secretary-General for Defense Support.
