The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) is a national women's soccer league in the United States and Puerto Rico, and is on the 2nd level of women's soccer in the United States soccer pyramid, alongside the W-League and below Women's Professional Soccer.

There are both "professional"/senior teams and amateur teams in the WPSL. An organization has to choose to be one or the other due to NCAA regulations, since collegiate players can not play on "pro" teams.

Teams with affiliations to WPS include: Boston Aztecs (pro, affiliated with Boston Breakers), SoccerPlus CT (amateur, Boston), Ajax America (pro, Los Angeles Sol), California Storm (amateur, F.C. Gold Pride) and in 2010, A.C. Diablos (amateur), Philadelphia Liberty (amateur) and CDSA Future (pro) will form the pyramid structure for the new Philadelphia Independence franchise.

The WPSL started as the Western Division of the W-League, before breaking away to form its own league in 1997. The league is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association as an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).

The WPSL is unique in that it is one of the few women's leagues to spawn a men's league, rather than the other way around: the Men's Premier Soccer League, later the National Premier Soccer League, was created as an offshoot of the WPSL in 2003. According to the official WPSL website, the WPSL is the largest (in terms of number of teams) women's soccer league in the world.

Sunday 1 May 2011 Stoke Gifford Stadium WL match Bristol Academy Ladies Goal Scorers: Dykes 83' Belles Fall To Late Goal The Belles fell to a eighty third minute goal from Welsh international substitute Loren Dykes securing Bristol Academy's first win of the FA Women's Super League. Bristol started the brighter of the two sides causing the visitors problems early on with a couple of corners in the strong wind at The Stoke Gifford Stadium. Anouk Hoogendijk came close to opening the scoring as Doncaster failed to clear a corner which found Hoogendijk, whose over head kick went over from close range. Helen Bleazard fired a free kick over the bar when Corinne Yorston was fouled on the edge of the box and minutes later Bleazard was through one on one with Doncaster's keeper Helen Alderson who made a smart save. Half Time 0 -- 0 Doncaster started the brighter team in the opening of the second-half earning a corner straight away which caused the Academy a problem when Katie Holtham headed just over the bar. Grace McCatty came close to scoring when Jess Fishlock passed the ball across goal, but McCatty was denied by Alderson. Vixen's goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain made a fine save tipping the ball over the bar from a Vicky Exley free kick. Michelle Green came close to scoring after heading wide Bleazard's cross in the 70th minute. Minutes later Doncaster came close but Chamberlain did well diving at the feet of Aine O'Gorman to scramble the ball away. In the 83rd minute Dykes ...
