This year Liliesleaf in Rivonia marks 66 years since the Rivonia raid and trial and most of the original structures to this historical site stand as no longer part of the past but the future. Liliesleaf farm possesses a rich and very important part of our countrys history. It is in this farm that the ANCs military wing MK leaders such as Walter Sisulu, Nelson Mandela and many others were captured and trialled in the famous Rivonia trial that led to the world opening its eyes to the atrocities of apartheid in South Africa.

South African civil rights activist remembered. The much-admired Albertina Sisulu passed away Thursday, June 2 at the ripe age of 92. She and her late husband Walter Sisulu, both contemporaries of His Excellency former President Nelson Mandela, had dedicated their lives to bringing equality to South Africa. Mrs. Sisulu, affectionately known as Ma Sisulu, was a long-time active member of the African National Congress and the Women's League, later serving as a Parliament member after the first all-race elections in 1994. Aside from championing racial equality, she was also outspoken and active for the rights of women and children. As South Africa declared national days of mourning in tribute to her life, President Jacob Zuma said that the country had lost both a leader and a role model. Our heartfelt condolences to the family and the people of South Africa for the loss of Mrs. Albertina Sisulu, whose dedication in honoring the dignity of human lives continues to inspire us all. May her soul rest serenely in the Divine realms of love and light.
