Vodafone New Zealand is a British owned telecommunications company, a subsidiary of Vodafone Plc operating in New Zealand. It is New Zealand's largest mobile phone operator, based in Auckland, New Zealand and was formed in 1998, after Vodafone purchased BellSouth's New Zealand operations. The company employs 1,300 people and has operations in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and has an extensive dealer (franchising) network across the country.

The company has invested millions of dollars in their 3G network, but continues to maintain its 2G network improving capacity in congested urban areas. In October 2006, Vodafone bought ihug, New Zealands third largest Internet service provider and now provides Internet service under the Vodafone New Zealand brand name.

The Tuis took Flight - or should that be Flight took the Tuis?- at the 2008 New Zealand Music Awards last night. Grammy-winning musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords dominated the major categories in the Tuis at the Vector Arena - and they were reluctant winners in some. The double act of Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, best known for their self-titled hit HBO series, had a clean sweep at the ceremony, sponsored by Vodafone, winning all three of their nominated categories - best album, best group and breakthrough act - plus sharing the award for international achievement with South Auckland hip-hop star Savage. Clement and McKenzie weren't on hand to receive their prizes but sent pre-recorded acceptance speeches from America, where they are making a second series of the sitcom. "We're barely even a group," said Clement on the best group prize. "Phoenix Foundation should have won this," added McKenzie, referring to the acclaimed Wellington band who went home empty-handed. Advertisement Advertisement "I don't even agree with this one. That's not true. I'm not accepting that," said Clement when he and McKenzie were given the night's top award, best album.

Hey Folks, Footage of the pre-season game between the Warriors and the Storm. The evening started with the Junior Warriors beating Waikato 34-6. Local boy Junior Afualo was the starting prop (#10) for the Junior Warriors. He played well with the ball in hand and made some good hitups and tackles thoughout the game. Was unlucky not to score, however some good defence from the locals made sure he didnt get over the line. Towards the end of the Juniors/Waikato game, the heavens opened and it started to rain down hard!! Myself and the friends/family were in the old WEL stand, but with the wind pushing the rain sideways, we got totally soaked! Was hard trying to get the camcorder out in the rain and it wasn't until the last 8 minutes that i managed to get something on video. Got the last try scored by Big Manu which was in the last minute making the final score 24-12 to the Warriors. Ex Warrior Wairangi Koopu was one of the Storm's best players on the night. In the first half, he made a great run fending off several of the Warriors which got the crowd cheering. Great to see Stacey Jones back in action. He played well and things look good for the Warriors in 2009. A minute's silence was observed in rememberance of Warrior Sonny Fai and also the victims of the Victorian bush fires. Note: Audio only on one channel.. not sure why that happened :(
