Upminster is a suburban town in northeast London, England, and part of the London Borough of Havering. Located 16.5 mi (26.6 km) east-northeast of Charing Cross, it is one of the locally important district centres identified in the London Plan, and comprises a number of shopping streets and a large residential area. It was historically a rural village in the county of Essex and formed an ancient parish. Although peripheral to London, the town has good transport links; it was first connected to central London by rail in 1885 and has a station on the London Underground network. The economic history of Upminster is characterised by a shift from farming to garden suburb. As part of the suburban growth of London in the 20th century, Upminster significantly expanded and increased in population, becoming part of Hornchurch Urban District in 1934, and has formed part of Greater London since 1965.

A journey on a D Stock District Line train from Earls Court to Parsons Green. There was engineering work between Wimbledon Park and Wimbledon, and between Embankment and Upminster, so trains were running : Putney Bridge to Edgware Road, Wimbledon Park to High Street Kensington, Parsons Green to Embankment, Richmond to HSK/Embankment, Ealing Broadway to HSK and Olympia to HSK. After arriving at Parsons Green, you see the train go into the siding

c2c is the name given to the railway company running the former London Tilbury and Southend Railway. This is a Driver's eye view of the lines from Shoeburyness to Southend, from Southend to London Fenchurch Street via Tilbury and Upminster and finally from Fenchurch Street to Grays via Dagenham.

Video125.co.uk The East London Line has recently had a total make-over and is now part of the so-called London Overground. Video 125 cameras recorded this Driver's eye view before the metamorphosis from the traditional 4 coach Metropolitan 'A' stock train. It was and still is to some extent a fascinating line running from New Cross to Wapping and Shoreditch via Brunel's old tunnel under the Thames. The main routes covered are those of the District Line however. We journey from Richmond all the way to Upminster, from Wimbledon to Edgware Road and even the shortest branch from High Street Kensington to Olympia (the third time one this DVD that we pass through Earl's Court). Talking of which there is a bonus on Earl's court comings and goings too.
