The University of KwaZulu-Natal or UKZN is a university with five campuses all located in the province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. It was formed on 1 January 2004 after the merger between the University of Natal and the University of Durban-Westville.

There are more cases of HIV infection in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa than in Botswana and Uganda combined. Led Professor Marie-Louise Newell (UCL Institute of Child Health), the Africa Centre for Health & Population Studies in KwaZulu-Natal not only treats those in the area with HIV but also gives testing and studies the spread of the virus in order to tackle the epidemic.
