The Universal Postal Union (UPU, ) is an international organization that coordinates postal policies among member nations, in addition to the worldwide postal system. The UPU contains four bodies consisting of the Congress, the Council of Administration (CA), the Postal Operations Council (POC) and the International Bureau (IB). It also oversees two cooperatives including the Telematics and EMS Cooperatives respectively. Each member agrees to the same terms for conducting international postal duties. The UPU’s headquarters are located in Bern, Switzerland.

French is the official language of the UPU. English was added as a working language in 1994. The majority of the UPU's documents and publications including its flagship magazine, Union Postale - are available in the United Nations' official languages.

The united states of America (note lower case) was incorporated in 1868/71 by the Roman Catholic institute. The united states of America could not stay sovereign and trade with nations already within the Oleron Law system. This is why events were engineered to destroy the sovereignty of America and bring about the 14th Amendment making all State citizens now property of this corporation DC In truth DC controls no where on the mainland other than its small patch. Its upon sovereign land as is the Vatican City which controls it and The City of London. Its dominated by Georgetown 'military fortress' University and the Jesuit US Conference President. Washington DC sits on once Roman Catholic soil owned by Francis Pope and Daniel Carroll, the later's brother founded Georgetown University and was the first US Bishop. The land was once known in 1663 property records as Rome and is made up of a part of VIRGINia and a part of MARYland giving us the Queen of Witches, Queen Semarisis of Babylon the wife of Nimrod. The US is totally under the thumb of The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem's puppet the Knights of Malta who control the entire Temple Crown financial system have they've controlled the entire financial system since the destruction of the Knights Templar at the hands of the Pope. Two major haunts of the Knights Templar are visibly under the control of the Knights of Malta today. These are Aventine Hill in Rome which was once the Templars WHQ and the other ...

cupw.ca/StrategicReview -- On April 21, the federal government announced a review of Canada Post that will determine the future of universal public postal service in this country. It is calling its examination the Canada Post Corporation Strategic Review (CPCSR) [www.cpcstrategicreview-examenstrategiquescp.gc.ca The government has given the CPCSR a very broad mandate. It has ruled out privatization, but not deregulation of Canada Post. Even though the government's strategic review could change the very nature of our postal system, there are no plans for public hearings. The review's advisory panel is simply consulting with "major stakeholders". It is asking the public and groups to provide written submissions by September 2, 2008. It will report to the government by December 2008. A speedy review without public hearings is hardly a democratic way to decide the fate of our publicly-owned post office.

In this video I demonstrate how the new Microscan MINI Hawk imager decodes Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMB) at high speed. I used two IMBs: one printed on white paper, and one printed on yellow paper read thru an envelop window. The two IMBs are rotating on a circumference of 12 inches at 107 inches per second. This is the maximum speed of the display used for this demo. Faster speed can be achieved. The Mini Hawk can also be used for Universal Postal Union (UPU) barcode applications.

More than 2 million children from some 60 countries took part in the 2009 international letter writing competition for young people organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU). The theme chosen for this year was Decent Work, a theme at the heart of the work of the International Labour Organization (ILO). First prize was awarded to 14-year-old Dominika Koflerová from the Czech Republic. In her letter she writes about how a bar of fair trade chocolate lead her to realize the value of decent work. At an award ceremony at the International Labour Office in Geneva, Dominika read excerpts of her letter to an audience that included the UPU Director-General Edouard Dayan and ILO Director-General Juan Somavia. On 11 December 2009, ICANN and the Swiss-based Universal Postal Union (UPU) have signed a historic agreement giving the UPU managing authority over .post as a top-level domain. This agreement came about after long negotiations, public review through ICANN's public comment process, and consideration by ICANNs Board of Directors. An equal level of effort was required from representatives of the UPU. The result is what may be the first truly secure top-level domain for the provision of services by the UPU member states. UPU Director General Edouard Dayan said the .post project is an important initiative for developing and providing secure and trusted postal services over the Internet. See more: www.icann.org

On 11 December 2009, ICANN and the Swiss-based Universal Postal Union (UPU) have signed a historic agreement giving the UPU managing authority over .post as a top-level domain. At the highest conceptual level, the agreement represents linking the top-level of the Internets Domain Name System with the real-world physical networks of the postal system, with 600000 global physical offices and proximity to most humans. To enable its customers to take advantage of the services the UPU envisions for .post, the UPU is already installing the first computers in many villages in their local post offices to provide those services, which can include: Hybrid email; that is, email that turns into physical mail at the post office nearest the recipient. Imagine you want to send a message to an 85-year-old aunt in Switzerland who does not use email. Hybrid mail would transform your email into a letter at your aunts national or nearby post office. As an analogy, think of turning emails into telegrams. Cybersecurity services that link authenticated addresses and personal knowledge to strengthen identities on the Internet. New types of financial services. It is at the UPUs discretion to set technical standards for national postal systems to join the network. See more: www.icann.org
