2010 FIBA World Championship Final Turkey vs USA Turkey: Kerem Tunceri, Omer Onan, Hidayet Turkoglu, Ersan Ilyasova, Omer Asik - Sinan Guler, Semih Erden, Kerem Gonlum, Ender Arslan, Cenk Akyol, Baris Ermis, Oguz Savas. USA: Chauncey Billups, Derrick Rose, Andre Iguodala, Kevin Durant, Lamar Odom - Russell Westbrook, Rudy Gay, Eric Gordon, Kevin Love, Tyson Chandler, Stephen Curry, Danny Granger. Boxscore: turkey2010.fiba.com In front of a heavily partisan crowd in Istanbul, Turkey, Team USA knocked aside the world's doubt and skepticism in convincing style. After hurtling through the tournament rounds unscathed with a 8-0 mark, the young American squad defeated Turkey in the FIBA 2010 World Championship finals Sunday, 81 - 64. Despite the jeers and cheers directed by a 15000+ crowd at the visitors, the United States team won their first tournament since 1994 - relying on the deftness of the 21-year-old Kevin Durant. Durant, who competes for the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder, knocked-down 28 points in a lopsided US win over a physical and taller Turkish squad. Raptors point guard Jose Calderon will not play for Spain at the World Championships because of an injury. He will be replaced on the roster by Raul Lopez. Spanish point guard Jose Calderon will miss the world basketball championships after picking up a leg injury in an exhibition match against the United States. Medical scans Monday revealed the Toronto Raptors player tore a muscle in his left leg in Sunday's 86-85 defeat. Calderon left late in the game, with zero points and three assists. The Spanish federation says Calderon needs four weeks to recover. The 28-year-old was part of Spain's 2006 world champion team and won Olympic silver two years ago in Beijing. Calderon says ``there is not much to say. It's a pity I was injured at the last minute.'' The world championships run from Aug. 28 through to Sep. 12 in Turkey. www.nba.com
