Awaji-shima in Hyogo Prefecture is also visible to the neighborhood. It was raining, and although the field of view was bad, it was still wonderful.

bc.wanwan.fm - On a trip to a small seaside town near the southern border of Tokushima Prefecture, I found this steel and concrete structure situated in the center of a residential district. A constant reminder that this is one of the most seismically active parts of the world and despite the beauty of the coast, the tsunami risk is high. ***Show Notes*** Our full episodes go live every Monday evening and can be found on our main site. Entry from: Akizuki, Japan Entry Title: "Temple 10 - Kirihataji - Day 2" Entry: "Temple 10 - Kirihataji - is 4 kilometers from temple 9, but with the new found power of Buddha working on her legs Simo felt up to the challenge! The walk to Temple 10 is one of the nicer ones. It starts through built up area on the outskirts of Horinji city, though there is also a lot of farming and many rice fields amongst the houses. The route was a little confusing at times, but we also found a shop which had a rest area set up for Henro - complete with free drinks and sweets as O-settai, which were very gratefully received in the afternoon heat! After getting out of the city, past the express way, the route climbs up through some nice countryside, and then up through a series of tourist shops and accommodations. We had a nice O-settai cup of Ocha before the hard bit started... Temple 10 was one of our favourites, although it is a steep climb to make at the end of a long day of walking twelve kilometers! The story of Kirihataji says that when Kukai passed this way he asked for some old cloth, however a young woman presented him with a brand new Kimono instead - quite a gift in those days! The woman told Kukai that she wanted to be a saint and to save people. She left home shorty lafter and changed into a Senju Kannon ...

Entry from: Kamojima, Japan Entry Title: "Temple 11 - Fujiidera - Day 3" Entry: "After waiting at Temple 10 until the evening drew in we then had to find somewhere to camp. There were quite a few areas around that looked promising... until we tried to drive pegs in and found that the ground was hard as a rock pretty much everywhere. We tried quite a few areas until eventually deciding there was only one possibility remaining... There was an old rusted digger by the side of a little used road. The ground was still too hard to drive pegs in but we were able to support the tent using the guy ropes tied off to the diggers arm. The ground below was horribly bumpy, Jonny had to sleep in hole! and in the night we were attacked! (or at least investigated) by wild Boar. Simo was way more courageous than Jonny and went outside in the night - but then she did really need to pee!! It wasn't the best nights sleep, but we woke up early enough to put in a good shift towards Temple 11 whilst it was still cool. We headed back down he lane we'd come up, and then into Awa city. After walking through built up areas for a while the buildings thinned into some lovely farmland with a great variety of crops that was actually very pleasant to walk through. After this we then had to cross the Yoshino-gawa river by a small one ...
