Today (Singapore newspaper) Video

While i was watching my local television channels in Singapore, i come across this commercial for the local free newspaper and i thought it would be nice for youtube since the advert play tricks with your eyes. So what do you see? The woman going anti clock-wise? Or a clock-wise? The narrative does explain what it means when the woman is going clock-wise and vice versa so listen carefully. Firm working with airlines, publishers to cut carbon, costs, paper usage Where's my inflight newspaper? By Rachel Kelly | Posted: 09 June 2011 2216 hrs SINGAPORE: Airlines are taking a new approach to going green -- a concept which could save industry players millions of dollars annually. A company in Singapore is working with airlines and publishers to cut carbon, costs, and paper usage. Singapore-based SmarttPapers Aviation brings magazines and newspapers to passengers on their screens, using a file compression technology to compress the content to airlines' in-flight entertainment system. SmarttPapers Aviation CEO Winston Wei said: "Our technology... not only make(s) the airlines happy because they save in fuel, but also the (publishers) because they are able to get their publication available to millions of passengers". Industry players said the capacity taken up by newspapers and magazines handed to passengers on a flight could weigh as much as a ton. They said by easing the load on an aircraft by that one ton, it could save an airline US$44 million annually, for that flight, cutting fuel costs. By the end of this month, around 50 aircrafts are expected to be taking to the skies with this technology. SmarttPapers said it is currently working with 20 publishers, but has more tie-ups in the pipeline. "You are talking about so many airlines in the world -- 200 to 300 airlines. This is a big thing, and not only in fuel costs, but also energy as well as resources," Mr Wei ...
