Tikrit ( , Tikrīt also transliterated as Takrit or Tekrit) is a town in Iraq, located 140 km northwest of Baghdad on the Tigris river (at 34.61°N, 43.68°E). The town, with an estimated population in 2002 of about 260,000 is the administrative center of the Salah ad Din Governorate.

We were told by the American adminstrator in Iraq L. Paul Bremer, that Saddam was captured on Dec 13 2003, the army found him hiding in an underground hole in a farmhouse near Tikrit, the story was fabricated.

Following the submission of Damascus (1174), Halab (Aleppo) (1183), and Mosul (1186), numerous Muslim armies, allied under Saladin's command were looking immortal, The Crusaders were not happy by Saladin's increasing power and success.
