'The Sewanee Review' is a literary and academic journal founded in 1892 and the oldest continuously published periodical of its kind in the United States. It incorporates original fiction and poetry, as well as essays, reviews, and literary criticism. Authors and poets whose work has been published in the journal include Cormac McCarthy, Flannery O'Connor, Robert Penn Warren, Dylan Thomas, Andrew Nelson Lytle and Howard Nemerov. Prior to its transfer to the Johns Hopkins University Press, it was one of only two academic journals in the USA still printed by letterpress. The editor is George Core of The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, which has been home to the magazine since its inception.

The journal is published quarterly in February, May, August, and November. Circulation is 2,250 and the average length of an issue is 190 pages.
