'The Mentalist' is an American police procedural television series which debuted on September 23, 2008, on CBS. The show was created by Bruno Heller, who is also the show's executive producer. It follows the story of Patrick Jane, who, as a paid consultant, uses unorthodox methods to aid the fictional California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in homicide investigations.

On May 19, 2010, CBS announced that The Mentalist had been renewed for a third season. The third season premiered September 23, 2010.

My Super sleuth girlfriend has figured it out. The first time we see a Red John murder is in Season 1, episode 1 called "Pilot". Officer Brett Partridge was the first person on the scene and seemed to know an awful lot of 'how' Red John subdued the victims. In the last episode of season 2, "Red Sky in the Morning", we see Officer Brett Partridge again... This time he is very antsy about getting Patric Jane out of the crime scene so his people can find some "real evidence". Towards the end of "Red Sky in the Morning", we meet Red John for the very first time. He is wearing a mask so we cant see his face but we can hear his voice. The way I put these clips together was Partridge/Red John/Partridge... When Red John speaks, you can blatantly tell that it is in fact Officer Partridge failing at disguising his voice.
