Since 1977, the team has played its home games in the Frank Erwin Special Events Center, where it has compiled a record of 407-95 (.811) as of March 1, 2011.

Texas Longhorns mens basketball Video

We had the opportunity to attend the KU vs. Texas game yesterday and as usual, we had a BLAST. Confidence still appeared to be shaky for our young men after a demoralizing lose against Texas Tech on Wednesday night. The Longhorns played well and definitely reminded our guys that they're going to have to work for this. The close score made this a fun game to watch, and we got to experience the nations BIGGEST home court advantage. The energy in Allen Fieldhouse is like nothing else, it will seriously give you goosebumps. Even Kathleen Sibelius was there! WE LOVE OUR Jayhawks and I especially got emotional as our Seniors were honored. So again, thank you #54 Matt Kleinman (remember this name if you're ever watching Jeopardy, because he is the ONLY player in history to have 5 Big 12 championship rings, and lets not forget a National Championship ring too!), and #10 Brenan Brechard. Please excuse the shakiness of some of these shots, understandably, there were moments that I just could not stand still!

The Longhorns have made it to the NCAA tournament every year for the past 12 seasons -- a feat just six other schools have accomplished. And coach Rick Barnes says he expects the streak to continue this season. One of those newcomers he mentioned include freshman forward Tristian Thompson. Right now, he leads the Big 12 in rebounding and blocks per game-- and coach Rick Barnes says he's pleased with the impact he's made so far. The Longhorns must replace four starters from last year's squad, including All-Big 12 first team member Damion James. But sophomore Jordan Hamilton, who played all 34 games last season and averaged ten points per game, says he's ready to take on that role. Senior forward Gary Johnson is the most experienced player on the Longhorns, and he's off to a good start this year as he's ranked in the top ten of the league in rebounding. He says it's important to remind younger players on the team that preseason rankings and polls don't mean much. In late November, the Longhorns competed in the 2kS Sports Classic in New York City, beating #13 Illinois and falling to #5 Pittsburgh by just two points.

Leading this year's Big 12 preseason poll is Kansas State. After last season's school record 29 wins and an exciting run to the Elite Eight, the Wildcats return seniors Curtis Kelly and Jacob Pullen who both started all 37 games a year ago. The squad also welcomes seven newcomers, including junior Freddy Asprilla, who was the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year at Florida International in 2008-09. Second in the Big 12 Preseason Poll is Kansas. The Jayhawks enter the 2010-11 season coming off a 33-3 season, in which they were ranked number one in the nation 29 out of the 36 weeks heading into the NCAA Tournament. They sustained only one conference loss last year and extended the nation's longest active home winning street to 59 games. Third in the Big 12 Preseason Poll is Texas. The Longhorns finished last season with a 24-10 record and return 10 lettermen, including All-Big 12 defensive team selection Dogus Balbay. Let's take a look at the rest of the Big 12 preseason poll... Baylor comes in at number four, while Missouri is 5th. Texas A&M and Texas Tech are 6th and 7th respectively, while Oklahoma State is 8th. Colorado is 9th, Nebraska 10th, Oklahoma 11th, and Iowa State 12th.
