The Texas Air National Guard is the air force militia of the U.S. state of Texas and a component of the Texas Military Forces (along with the Texas Army National Guard and the Texas State Guard). It is composed of airmen and officers assigned to three flying wings and three geographically separated units throughout Texas.

From 2001 through 2007, elements of every Air National Guard unit in Texas were activated in support of the Global War on Terror. Flight crews, aircraft maintenance personnel, communications technicians, air controllers and air security personnel deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Israel, and other locations throughout Southwest Asia. Additionally, in 2005 elements of all the units were activated to provide relief after Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.

Texas Air National Guard Video

A massive wildfire at Possum Kingdom Lake, Texas forced a huge aerial firefighting attack. This video was shot from the news helicopter, showing some of the resources the Forest Service used to fight the blaze. Heavy helicopters, 2 National Guard C-130's, Blackhawks, Single Engine Air Tankers, and type 2 helicopters all contributed to fighting the 200000 acre fire.

Sergeant Steve Morin and Airman First Class Elizabeth Jacobsen were killed west of Camp Bucca (south Iraq, just west of the port of Umm Qasr) on 28 September 2005. Following this tragic incident, SSgt Constable made a video in tribute to Liz Jacobsen and later, Specialist Moreno-Scott made a video for SGT Morin. I combined the two videos for this upload. Everyone who knew theym say that no one has passed through Camp Bucca that was nicer than Steve or Liz. They both had hearts of gold. Morin had a tab made that read "Regular Guy," and he wore it quietly on his backpack. Liz only had nice things to say about others. They were sitting side by side, one Air Force, one Texas Army National Guard when they died. Morin wasn't even scheduled to be on the convoy, he was making a run to Kuwait to get charcoal for a unit bar-b-que. He quietly volunteered to help out the team. The comments, attributed to Liz, were in a letter she wrote to her mother just before her death. They are both missed by family, friends, & fellow service members...
