Terrence Frederick Malick (born November 30, 1943) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. In a career spanning almost four decades, Malick has directed six feature films.
Malick has received consistent regard for his work, his films often considered to be masterpieces. Malick was nominated for an Academy Award for both Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Director, and won the Golden Bear at the 49th Berlin International Film Festival for The Thin Red Line. In 2011 Malick's The Tree of Life won the Palme d'Or at the 64th Cannes Film Festival.
