Stillwater is a city in north-central Oklahoma at the intersection of U.S. 177 and State Highway 51. It is the county seat of Payne County, Oklahoma, United States. In the census of 2010, the population was 45,688.

Stillwater was part of first Land Run held April 22, 1889, when Oklahoma Territory's Unassigned Lands were opened for settlement. The city charter was adopted on August 24 later that year.

Today, Stillwater is home to Oklahoma State University, Northern Oklahoma College/OSU Gateway, Meridian Technology Center and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education. In 2010, CNN/Money Magazine ranked Stillwater as No. 67 on its list of "America's Best Small Cities."

The City of Stillwater, the local community and the Patriot Guard Riders all did an outstanding job of minimizing the impact of the 4 members of the Westboro Baptist Church who "picketed", 2 of which were just children. I guess they tried to move around and one of the OKC news stations could not even find them and reported that they did not show up. :-) I have never been more proud of the community. I just wish I had seen all the other people who lined main street and most of the road all the way to the cemetery. It must have been amazing.
