St. Moritz (German: Sankt Moritz, Romansh: San Murezzan) is a resort town in the Engadine valley in Switzerland. It is a municipality in the district of Maloja in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The highest summit in the Eastern Alps, the Piz Bernina, lies a few kilometres south of the town.

Come primo video dell'anno vi propongo il passaggio nella Piazza del Santuario della Madonna di Tirano del celeberrimo trenino rosso del Bernina, che collega Tirano (SO) a St. Moritz, località montana dell'Engadina, in Svizzera. Questo mitico treno percorre una linea a scartamento ridotto che supera pendenze elevatissime, per giungere ad oltre 2200 metri di quota, altezza a cui è situato il Passo del Bernina. La linea già dai primi metri è affascinante, in quanto taglia Tirano proprio in una delle sue piazze principali, per poi impennarsi subito verso il Passo, assomigliando molto più ad un plastico che ad una ferrovia reale. A renderla ancora più simile ad un plastico ci pensa proprio lo scartamento ridotto, che agevola soprattutto le manovre in stazione dei deviatoi, che risultano molto più rapide delle tradizionali. In questo caso il treno era trazionato da una doppia di ABe 4/4 ed era appena partito dalla stazione delle Ferrovie Retiche di Tirano, ben separata da una recinzione metallica dal capolinea della linea FS Milano - Lecco - Sondrio - Tirano.
