The club originates from the men’s fellowship of M.A.O.S Ministries football team founded in 2002, which took part in inter-church competitions. In 2004 Elly Mboni Kalekwa took over the team and formed Sofapaka FC and the team eventually joined the Nationwide league . The team won the Kenyan Cup in 2007, while still playing in the Nationwide League and narrowly missed promotion to the Premier League by finishing second in their zone after Bandari FC . The next season they promoted to the premier league . They won the premier league in 2009, the year they debuted in the league . The club won the 2009 Kenyan Super Cup beating AFC Leopards 1 � 0 The team was managed by Robert Matano when the team promoted to the KPL in 2008 and won the league the next season. He was, however, dismissed in March 2010 after a below expectations start of the new league season, and early exit from Champions League. He was replaced by Sam Ssimbwa of Uganda . Sofapaka won its second Kenyan Cup title in 2010, beating the lower league side West Kenya Sugar 2 � 0 in the final |
