Mary has her baby. Jack gets drunk and wants to be there. The nurse won't let Jack in under his condition. The reference to the water comes from Mary causing Jack to fall in the river on the first week of the show.

The final version of the opening to Ryan's Hope, from a November 1988 broadcast. The late, and beloved, ABC soap ended its run two months later on January 13, 1989. The younger supporting cast featured some soon-to-be-famous names as the show was ending. Appearing at this time were Yasmine Bleeth as Ryan Fenelli, Jimmy Wlcek as Ben Shelby (ironically, both Bleeth and Wlcek defect over to One Life to Live, as different characters, soon after the cancellation of RH), Tichina Arnold as Zena Brown, and Danny Tamberelli as Sean Novak (son of Siobhan) - who, over a year after the show ended, began appearing on a series of Nickelodeon comedy shorts as one of two brothers named "Pete". If you're a child of the '90s, you know how the rest goes..

A simulated closing credits sequence for Ryan's Hope, put together by a soap trader who began doing business with some people (including me). He put these together when credit pieces of soap material were missing from his master tapes. This was included, and made for, a July 1987 episode of RH. Nearly all cast & crew members included here appeared at that time, except for a few put in erroneously: Diana Van der Vlis and Karen Morris-Gowdy did not appear in these RH episodes (nor were they on the show at all in '87), and two different actors are listed as playing John Ryan (one as Little John and the other as John Reid Ryan). Jason Adams (who now goes by Ash Adams - the creator listed him as Ash in the credits, but he wouldn't use that name professionally until 1996), not Jason LELAND Adams, had the role in this episode. In the later years of Ryan's Hope, there would be no network voiceovers heard over the credits, only when the show was carried on an ABC affiliate that aired RH at 11:30 AM before the 12PM news. A mistake that ended up killing the show by 1989, ABC kept RH at the official network time of 12PM, but since most stations were airing local news in that slot by the mid '80s, stations either aired the soap late in the morning, in the wee hours of the morning the next day, or not at all. Usually, if RH was aired over network transmission, v/o announcements previewing Loving and primetime programming would be heard.

Final storylines :
In its 13 years on the air, Ryan's Hope went through quite a few theme, visual, and credit revisions. However, the aspects that never changed were the title sequence's concept of showing scenes of New York City life and the theme song, credited to Carey Gold but according to lore written as "Here's to Us," with input by Claire Labine.
