Rockwall County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. It is Texas' smallest county in land area. However, it was one of the top twenty-five fastest growing counties in the U.S. in 2010. In 2000, its population was 43,080, and by 2010 it reached 78,337. Its seat is Rockwall . Rockwall County forms part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

The county was formerly a part of Kaufman County, but split off in 1873 because access to the county seat of Kaufman was inconvenient. The county and city are named for a wall-like subterranean rock formation that runs throughout the county.
