Porter Airlines is a regional airline headquartered at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport on the Toronto Islands in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Porter operates regularly scheduled flights between Toronto and locations in Canada and the United States using Canadian-built Bombardier Dash-8 Q 400 turboprop aircraft.

Porter's operation at the Toronto airport was launched in 2006 after some controversy. A planned bridge to the airport was cancelled in 2003, leading to lawsuits between the airline and the City of Toronto. The airline bought the island airport terminal and evicted rival airline Air Canada Jazz from the airport. Despite opposition from nearby community groups, Porter has expanded its operations since 2006, adding more destinations and planes. Porter opened a new, larger, passenger terminal at the island airport in March 2010. In 2008, Porter got a 4-star Skytrax rating, the only Canadian airline to do so.

A steep takeoff using the principles of ground effect, showed from a great front facing angle in cabin view. The flight instructor/pilot performed the takeoff and allowed me as the student to feel the rudder and yoke controls. Crosswind gusts of 16 from the North (to the right side of the plane). This was performed at my second fight lesson in a Cessna 172 at/out of City Center Billy Bishop airport in Toronto, right by Lake Ontario. We had to takeoff in the opposite direction than last time since we wanted the wind blowing over the wings as much as possible from the front to add lift. The aircraft pulled up at about 95 knots and climbed at a steep angle of about 5 to 10 (according to the altimeter =D) degrees more than is considered normal. As you may have noticed the camera drops into the seat-back at one point in the video. This is due to the increase in positive g-forces as the plane sharply pulled up for takeoff which resulted in the camera feeling much heavier than what people would be used to. I will be uploading the lesson in parts, so that you can choose which part of the flight or airplane you want to watch rather than a big boring clump of video.
