Plymouth is the de jure capital of the island of Montserrat, an overseas territory of the United Kingdom located in the Leeward Island chain of the Lesser Antilles, West Indies. The town was overwhelmed by volcanic eruptions starting in the 1990s and was abandoned. For centuries it had been the only port of entry to the island.

This shot pans from the volcano down to Plymouth on the island of Montserrat. Winston Tellesford led this group along with police escort to this excellent viewing point near Weekes. Police escort is required to visit areas south of the Belham River. This can take a day or two to set up and costs $150 EC. Police escort was not required (just checking in at the Salem station before and after a visit) until someone decided to climb Chances Peak without permission and required rescue.

This is said to be the longest beach on the island and could well be a major attraction once the area is safe to visit without police escort (which Winston Tellesford arranged for this tour). The end of the pier at plymouth just sticks out from the beach which has grown since the volcano began erupting.
