Salta und Orán liegen in der gleichen Provinz, doch zwischen beiden Städten liegen Welten. Während Salta als Provinzhauptstadt über zahlreiche Cafes, Museen, Restaurants und wichtige Gesundheits- und Bildungseinrichtungen und weltliches Flair verfügt, hat Orán dagegen nicht einmal ein geteertes Strassennetz. Die asphaltierten Hauptkreuzungen im Zentrum gehen schon nach ein paar Blöcken in Staubstrassen über.
