From 1951 through 2010 the North Texas Mean Green played its home games at Fouts Field, a stadium with a capacity of 30,000 on the campus in Denton, Texas. Beginning in 2011, the Mean Green will host their games at Apogee Stadium, located within the Mean Green Village. Some of UNT's head coaches have gone on to have notable careers. Rod Rust became a defensive coordinator and eventually a head coach in the NFL. Hayden Fry eventually would be voted into the College Football Hall of Fame after a long career at Iowa. Jerry Moore left UNT for Texas Tech, where he coached for a few years before starting a long and very successful run at Appalachian State. He led that school to become the first FCS school to win 3 straight FCS national titles. |
