North American Bus Industries, commonly known as NABI, is a major transit bus manufacturing company based in Anniston, Alabama. NABI was founded in 1992 when the Hungarian firm Ikarus Bus, a key bus supplier to Central, Eastern Europe, spun off a majority share of their American operations to American/Hungarian investors amid financial instabilities in the wake of the end of the Cold War.

Here we are in Downtown Los Angeles, where we step off of a Metro Express bus at Figueroa Street and 5th Street. The buses we see here are from Metro and from Santa Clarita Transit. The Metro buses are 4 North American Bus Industries 40-LFW's fr both Metro Express and Metro Local. The Santa Clarita Transit bus is an MCI 4000. Here we are on the Metro Rapid bus as we pull into the stop at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Boulevard, where we get off the bus and walk into the Metro Subway. A ride on SEPTA's 5251. This is one of the fastest NABI's that SEPTA owns. 5251 is the only NABI to have and Luminator Horizon sign (orange LED) making this an oddball. This bus was built in 1996 by The North American Bus Industries, Model 416. 08 TA. The engine is a powerful Detroit Diesel Series 50 with an Allison B-400R-4 Speed transmission.

Here we are on Bee Line Bus 205, a brand new 40LFW, made by North American Bus Industries, as we make our way through Elmsford on Route 14, the local to Cortlandt Town Center. Special Notes: On Detour due to ongoing construction on the El Monte Busway on Weekends as part of the lane widening project to implement Toll Lanes on the I-10 and I-110 Freeways (El Monte Busway and Harbor Transitway, respectively). About this recorded stretch: Turning left at Marengo Street and heading south on State Street from the LAC + USC Medical Center Busway Station in Los Angeles. The bus then heads on the US-101 Freeway North to Alameda Street (El Monte Busway Entrance/ Union Station). The bus then continues west on Arcadia Street and turns left at Spring Street, heading south and passing LA City Hall. Notes: This particular unit has been repowered with a Cummins Westport ISL-G engine since the time this video was shot. As of December 2011, Express Line 485 has become a weekday-only route with the southern portion of the route shortened to LA Union Station. About this recorded stretch: Heading east on the El Monte Busway from Alameda Street (Union Station) in Downtown LA to Cal State LA.
