The New York State Legislature is the term often used to refer to the two houses that act as the state legislature of the U.S. state of New York. The New York Constitution does not designate an official term for the two houses together. It says only that "legislative power is vested in the senate and assembly." The legislature is seated at the New York State Capitol in Albany.

read 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 in the Bible. The Scripture reference to Galatians 5:17- 18 should be 5:19-20. The other scripture reference is Leviticus 18:22 This was recorded When Governor Patterson was Governor. Since Cuomo is now Governor, I changed the title to reflect that. Hence, the references to Patterson in this Teaching Moment.

NY State Assemblyman Rory Lancman and Bhairavi Desai of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance (NYTWA) speak about the recent passing of the Taxi Driver Protection Act (A.10058-A/S.7022-A). Senate Vote: 60 Yes, 0 No // Assembly Vote: 141 Yes, 1 No. This bill increases the penalties on assaults against taxicab, black car, and livery drivers and requires a sticker in every taxicab: "WARNING: Assaulting A Taxi Driver Is Punishable By Up To Twenty-Five Years In Prison." On misdemeanor assaults which carry maximum one year prison, the penalty will increase to a mandatory two year prison term if the victim is a driver. On felony assaults, there will be a penalty enhancement of five additional years to the term if the victim is a driver. The bill now goes to the Governor for signing.

Public parks have a long history in the US. Dating back to Theodore Roosevelt and the creation of the National Park Service, parks have played an leading role in protecting the environment and creating economically viable communities. Nevertheless, their value can be questioned in times of shrinking governmental budgets. Belleayre Mountain is a New York State Park run by the Department of Environmental Conservation (the DEC mentioned frequently in the video). Due to the deficits in the state budget the DEC instructed Belleayre to lay off a large percentage of their full time employees, shifting them to a seasonal employee status. An estimated 150 people attended a rally protesting these job cuts where they listened to elected officials and community organizers address this issue. Another RadXSports video. DISCLAIMER The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), through it's facility at Belleayre Mountain, is a sponsor of RadXSports. Tony Lanza, host of the RadXSports TV show and some of the RadXSports You Tube video clips, is the Superintendent of Belleayre Mountain and an employee of the DEC. Mr. Lanza did not participate in the production of this video and did not contribute directly or indirectly in any way to it's contents. The images and ideas presented herein do not in any way represent those of Mr. Lanza or the DEC.

This May, the New York Taxi Workers Alliance (NYTWA) led a motorcade of taxi drivers up to Albany in order to meet with state legislators and push for the Taxi Driver Protection Act (A.10058-A/S.7022-A) to increase the penalty of an assault on taxi drivers and require warning signs in the back of taxis. This bill is the first deterrence to be implemented in our industry in over twenty years (since the partition was mandated). Sixty times more likely to be killed on the job than other workers, the Taxi Driver Protection Act will help keep 100000 taxicab, livery and black car drivers safe on the job.

Lawmakers voted late Friday to legalize same-sex marriage, making New York the largest state where gay and lesbian couples will be able to wed and giving the national gay-rights movement new momentum from the state where it was born. The marriage bill, whose fate was uncertain until moments before the vote, was approved 33 to 29 in a packed but hushed Senate chamber. Four members of the Republican majority joined all but one Democrat in the Senate in supporting the measure after an intense and emotional campaign aimed at the handful of lawmakers wrestling with a decision that divided their friends, their constituents and sometimes their own homes.
