Neoplan USA was a major transit bus manufacturing company based in Denver, Colorado, which was entirely separate from the German corporation, Neoplan, licensing its designs from the German company of the same name. The company was founded in 1981 and folded in 2006. It was originally a subsidiary of Neoplan, but later became an independent licensee. Its main factory was located in Lamar, Colorado. Its headquarters was also in Lamar, until moving to Denver in 2004. At one time, it also had production facilities in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, and Brownsville, Texas.

Neoplan manufactured standard-floor buses, low-floor buses, and articulated buses. In 2003 – 2006 it also built 28 40 ft (12.2 m) electric trolley buses and 32 articulated dual-mode buses for Boston's MBTA. Neoplan had 625 employees and revenue of $810 million before it ceased operations in January 2006.

Neoplan USA filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August 2006, listing assets of $13.7 million and debts of $59 million, after closing its manufacturing plant in 2006.

In its last few months of operation, Neoplan had fallen on hard times, such as warranty issues with San Francisco's MUNI and cash-flow problems after Boston's MBTA canceled an order over late bus deliveries.

The company still technically continued to exist until selling its parts-supply division, Neopart. Once Neopart was sold, in October 2007, Neoplan USA ceased to exist.

Having just stepped off of the Route 20 bus, the local bus from Bedford Park to White Plains via the Cross County Mall, I figured I would do a video on the Trans Center ansd all that goes on during the evening rush hour. Here are some of the things that I saw. First off is a 20X bus, which is the same as the 20, except it skips the Cross County Mall. Both the 20 and the 20X are 2003 Neoplan AN460 60 foot Articulate buses. Next up, we see a 35 foot Orion V short bus, which is out of service at the moment, so we don't see a route on the roll sign. Next, we see a Spring Valley bound Tappan ZEExpress bus as it's loading a wheelchair passenger. In another lane, we see a Coach USA bus. I am unsure of the destination because I didn't see the route sign. Both buses are MCI's. The last bus we see is the bus I get on, which is the 13 bus to Ossining. Tonight, the 13 is left to the 601, which is a newer Orion V. 601 is interesting because it is naked, meaning that there are absolutely no advertisements on the sides or the front or back. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on January 9th, 2009.

Take a ride on a Neoplan USA AN460 articulated bus on the 214A Nortwest Station P&R. This particular bus (4446) is owned by METRO but is operated by First Transit. This is round two of my ride on this bus---this time, I'm sitting on the other side (at the back) of the bus. You can most likely hear the engine better here. Enjoy!

Engine : Detroit Deisel Series 60 This bus operates out of the East Liberty Division Bus Garage.
