www.improvei70.org The idea of separating trucks from other vehicles on interstates and highways is gaining national attention. Currently, there are no dedicated US highways for trucks, but some states, like Georgia, have created lanes dedicated for trucks. In addition, many states, including Missouri, are studying the need for truck-only lanes and the possibility of enhanced safety and improved overall traffic flow.

For the past four years, Missouri has recorded the highest number of fatal and serious injury crashes between July and September. Help reverse this trend by: Slowing down. Obey all posted speed limits. Stop speeding before it stops you. Never driving impaired. Designate a driver who has not been drinking. You Drink & Drive. You Lose. Buckling up its the law. Seven out of ten Missourians killed in traffic crashes are unbuckled. This summer, Missouri law enforcement will use High Enforcement Action Teams to crack down on impaired drivers and ticket speeding and unbuckled drivers and passengers. In order for Missouri to reach the statewide goal of 850 or fewer fatalities by 2012, the spike in fatalities between July and September must be prevented.

Flatbed Express, operated by The Davies Family, (Mary and Gary, with their sons Duck and James), bring the longest concrete girders ever set in the state of Missouri to the kcICON Project. This interview was conducted at the KDOT "waiting spot" on I-70 and 78th Street in Kansas City, KS. The 150000 pound girders will be used to build a new bridge that will span northbound Interstate 29/35 and carry southbound Interstate 29/35 traffic headed for The Paseo, Independence Avenue, and points beyond. By implementing state-of-the-art best practices from around the country, MoDOT is incorporating a Nebraska Department of Transportation innovative design to flyover all new northbound interstate lanes with a single span bridge, saving both time and money. The Paseo Blvd. ramp bridge will be completed in the fall of 2010, and traffic will reopen from southbound Interstate 29/35 to The Paseo.
