However, he appeared in over 50 other films since 1936, many with Jean Simmons and other well-known actors. During World War II, Rennie served in the Royal Air Force. [PLEASE READ] Behold the voluptuous woman: exotically dancing, bathing, sword-fighting, romancing, regally presiding, and pleading as a damsel in distress. You are watching actress Debra Paget in her (dual) role as Princess Shalimar/Taura in the 1954 Fox film PRINCESS OF THE NILE. Dazzling Debra Paget was a gifted, "exotica" actress who performed--with Romantic élan--in a tremendous variety of colorful roles in the 1950s. Debra's talents as an actress and dancer matched her physical beauty as a woman. Among her acting gifts was a rare ability to deliver her spoken lines with the most exquisite and compelling feminine grace. Onscreen, she is always a passionate presence of "banked fires." Whenever Debra Paget speaks, the words are molten. Also appearing in the film: Jeffrey Hunter as "the hero" Prince Haidi; Michael Rennie as "the villain" Rama Khan; Michael Ansara (a staple presence in films of this sort as well as actress Barbara Eden's future husband) as Rama Khan's "partner in crime"; Edgar Barrier as the evil Shaman; and Dona Drake as "queen's maid" (Dona was no stranger to North African rolesâsee her also in Hope and Crosby's "Road to Morocco"). Debra Paget "returned to Egypt" as Shila in CLEOPATRA'S DAUGHTER, a foreign film released domestically in 1963. Side-note for the curious and demanding: Debra Paget brought her "Nile act" to Vegas in the 1950s. Please refer to my DEBRA PAGET SRO video for some jackpot views. Side-note for the statistical: Debra Paget was ...

Creator: Tom Kapinos Genre: Comedy, Drama About: Hank Moody may be a talented author, despite his gift of the gab, especially for live seducing, his private life is a mess. Repeated attempts to have a stable relationship with Karen, also for the sake of their daughter Becca, fail because of their extreme libertarian infidelity. Hank's sexual appetite also infects talent agent Charlie Runkle, who indulges in all kinds of naughtiness too. More 'victims of hormones' contribute to the lustily lust-loaded plot. PLEASE READ THIS - This clip consists of two segments from "Princess of the Nile" (1954), the story of Shalimar, an Egyptian princess who poses as Taura the dancing girl in order to rid her county of it's Bedouin invaders. This pretty lame affair with lots of hokey dialogue was directed by Harmon Jones. The other performers were Jeffrey Hunter as Prince Haidi; Michael Rennie as Rama Khan ; Dona Drake as Mirva; and Michael Ansara as Captain Kral. I am always looking for new ideas for this series. If you have any suggestions please don't hesitate to drop me a line.

"I am fearful when I see people substituting fear for reason." ______________________________________ The Day The Earth Stood Still - the original, now - is clearly a science fiction staple. It's so iconic that you'll know half of what to expect before you ever watch it. The interesting thing about it, among sci-fi classics, is that it doesn't really spend all that much time on the science fiction elements. Much of the film is spent with Klaatu dealing with regular people on an intensely personal level, and I think that really gives it an emotional heft that most alien movies don't have. It's also, of course, an important movie that not only is quite truthful about the state of humanity, but also tells a lot about the time it was made. Klaatu's ultimatum to the people of Earth puts one in mind of mutually assured destruction, at the height of the Cold War. Michael Rennie did a wonderful job portraying a visitor from another world, keeping his speech from sounding like rhetoric. I chose the song because, apart from being haunting at times and generally fitting the genre, it has both stretches of melancholy and of chaos. I find this to be quite a regretful, plaintive movie with a small glimmer of hope, in the people Klaatu befriends during his time here.

A visit of the Sino British Film Group to a Chinese movie studio. I'm told it was during the production of 'This Mortal Wind '(1954), starring Li Lihua, Yan Jun, and Liu Qi. Followed by shots taken at the filming of 'Soldier of fortune', with Michael Rennie, at the harbour front.
