Los Cabos International Airport is the seventh busiest airport in Mexico, located at San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico. The airport serves Los Cabos area: San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. This airport has three terminals with 4 concourses. Terminal 1 serves almost all domestic and international operations while Terminal 3 works as a relief for the already saturated terminal, Alaska Airlines and Delta Air Lines will transfer their operations to Terminal 3. The airport gained its first nonstop service to Asia when Aeromexico began flights to Shanghai, China on September 7, 2011.

In 2010, the airport handled 2,745,500 passengers, representing a 4.8% increase over 2009. It has become the most important airport in the state of Baja California Sur. Nevertheless, the infrastructure of the airport is already insufficient compared to the increasing demand, causing the lack of available positions for aircraft during peak-hours, as in many other airports in the country.
