London Southend Airport or Southend Airport is a regional airport in the district of Rochford within Essex, England.

During the 1960s, Southend was the third-busiest airport in the United Kingdom. It remained London's third-busiest airport in terms of passengers handled until the end of the 1970s, when the role of "London's third airport" passed to Stansted. Following its purchase by the Stobart Group in 2008, there has been an ongoing programme of development, and EasyJet is to start operating services and open a base at Southend in April 2012. The airport operators hope to increase passenger numbers to two million per year by 2020.

London Southend Airport Video

On Sunday March 27th 2011, Aer Arann launched flights from London Southend Airport to Waterford and Galway. I booked to fly out on the very first SEN-GWY flight which departed aboard EI-SLN at 10:15am. This video captures some of the scenes at the airport on the day of the inaugural flights. Many of you will have seen my other Aer Arann videos and know I like the airline, these flights just went to prove how stress free travel can be, SEN & GWY are small airports and you're in and out in a matter of minutes. I hope you like some of the scenes from Connemara as well!

This video features the Departure from Galway City Airport as we head out to Waterford Airport for a brief stopover, the arrival into Waterford was pretty bumpy ( :-D ) due to rain showers over this part of the country, still some lovely views to be had. We saw EI-SLM in Aer Lingus REgional colours. Before departing and a dusk landing at London Southend.

This is part one of my 'video diary' of a trip to Galway from Southend Airport during Easter weekend 2011. Flight RE401 on Good Friday was full, I was in row 11 and tried to capture the takeoff from Southend, including taxxing past photographers and an Astreus 757 in Iron Maiden colours. We flew right over my house back in Essex, and I managed to capture a bit of aerial footage of my home town. The video features a nice landing at Galway Airport as we pass the galway races stadium. My thanks to the staff at Southend, the crew on Aer Arann and the team at Galway Airport. None of them know me, but I'd like to say a big thank you for a really nice experience. NOTE - PART 2 TO COME, WITH SCENERY FROM IRELAND AND MORE Aer Arann ATRS!

This is the second part of my 2 night trip to Galway over Easter 2011. Part one featured the takeoff from London Southend and arrival at Galway Airport. This part features a range of scenery from Ireland's Atlantic West Coast as well as Galway City Centre and finally, takeoff from Galway and landing back at Southend. Had excellent weather during the trip to Galway. **NOTE - PART 1 AND PART 2 WERE ALL FILMED HANDHELD ON A HANDYCAM, This video is supposed to be in the style of a video diary of a weekend away, so varies from my other videos in style and content *** Please subscribe, follow me on twitter @bananamanuk79
