Lockhart Stadium, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is a stadium that serves as the home of the Florida Atlantic University football team. The stadium is also currently used by Fort Lauderdale High School, and Dillard High School for home high school football games. Built in 1959 as an athletic facility for local high schools, it is part of a sports complex that also includes Fort Lauderdale Stadium. The stadium is owned by the City of Fort Lauderdale. The stadium has served as home for three pro soccer teams. Currently, it is home to Miami FC of USSF Division 2 Professional League. In the past, Lockhart was the home field for both the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League as well as the Miami Fusion F.C. of Major League Soccer. DC United's 1998 victory over Vasco da Gama was also held there. The field is a FIFA-regulation field 75 yards by 116. FAU Football Team is planning to move into a new on-campus stadium. Lockhart Stadium was host to the 2007 Caribbean Carnival for Broward County, after Miramar turned their request down. Lockhart Stadium also hosted the 2008 and 2009 MLS Combines |
