Lindenhurst is a village in Suffolk County, New York, on the southern shore of Long Island in the Town of Babylon. The population was 27,819 at the 2000 census; the 2006 estimate found approximately 28,000 residents. It is the 4th most populous village in New York State.

2.32 min. | 4.73 user rating		 As I was boating in the Great Sacandaga Lake at the southern tip of the Adirondack Mountains in New York State on August 2nd 2008, this very intense thunderstorm rolled in. It featured a very distinct roll cloud, frequent lightning, a striated base, and this possible tornado. To the naked eye, it appeared to be spinning, and if I had to guess right now whether it was a tornado or not, I would say it was. However, it may just be a piece of the roll cloud, and since the mountains reach up into the clouds, the roll cloud appeared to be making contact with the ground. No matter what it was, it was certainly a dangerous storm.So what do you think? Tornado or just a funnel-shaped cloud? Please feel free to comment.
3.05 min. | 3.87 user rating		 The coastal storm on March 8th, 2008 dropped a total of 2.75 inches of rain and had wind gusts up to 42 mph here at Venetian Shores. The waves at the ocean beaches were around 8 feet, the waves in the Great South Bay were about 3-4 feet, and the waves in the canals were about 1 foot. Storm surge was only around +.75 feet on the south shore back bays, so coastal flooding was not a problem. Only stream, creak, and poor drainage freshwater flooding occured. This storm is the same strom that gave Ohio and western New York State a blizzard, with up to 30 inches of snow reported in Ohio.
