www.ntv.co.ke Competition for spots in the national soccer team Harambee Stars starting lineup has gone a notch higher after players who were earlier reported injured turned up for training alongside their would be replacements. First choice striker Dennis Oliech and number one keeper Arnold Origi had initially been ruled out but are both keen on starting against Mozambique on Sunday. www.ntv.co.ke The national soccer team Harambee stars jetted back into the country early Tuesday morning from Maputo where they lost 1-0 to Mozambique in the World and Africa Cup qualifiers. The team was without the head coach Antoine Hey who reportedly flew to his home country Germany and some professional players who traveled directly to their clubs from South Africa. The players and officials remained tight-lipped over their loss that condemned them to the bottom of group two behind leaders Tunisia and Nigeria. A visibly annoyed head of delegation Majid Hussein defended the team and the coach from censure saying their players did their best under appalling conditions in the South African nation.

www.ntv.co.ke Striker Dennis Oliech has been ruled out of the match against Nigeria next month. Coach Antoine Hey has insisted that his decision to drop the Auxerre striker from the national team is final. Kenyan coaches had written to Hey asking him to recall the striker who was dropped for the away match in Tunisia. At the same time, Hey has recalled Thika Uniteds Abdulatif Omar to the camp at Kasarani as goalkeeper Willis Ochieng joined the camp. Meanwhile, the Harambee Stars are scheduled to play Kuwait in a build-up match ahead of the tie against Nigeria. The date of the match is yet to be confirmed.

www.ntv.co.ke Antoine Hey must make the necessary changes if he intends to win against Nigeria in the final group B, Africa Nations Cup qualifying match, which is also his last assignment with Kenya. The secretary to the national coaches association, Bob Oyugi said this after Kenya Football Federation threatened to takeover the management of the Harambee Stars from Football Kenya Limited. Hey, arrived back from Germany on Monday, as he kicked off the Stars camp with an afternoon training session.
