John E. Sweeney (born August 9, 1955) is a politician from the U.S. state of New York. A Republican, he represented New York's 20th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from January 1999 to January 2007. He was defeated for reelection in November 2006 by Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand.

I am fundamentally opposed to EVERY single thing the Scientology cult stands for & represents. A cult that sets out to trap some of the most vulnerable people in society, whilst making a big stack of cash & that is based on a wacky, deluded pack of lies. It is a cult that in my opinion needs to be smashed into a billion pieces. So following the recent revelations on the BBC Panorama program that was aired on the 28 September 2010 - that was a follow up to John Sweeney's original 2007 documentary, I decided on making a few videos that try to ask some pivotal questions. This video looks at the device known as a Hubbard electro-psychometer. (E-meter) It's a crude lie detector used by Scientology auditors to 'examine' a person's mental state. Scientologists claim the device allows people to "see a thought." In the hands of a trained auditor, they believe it can uncover "hidden crimes." Mark "Marty" C. Rathbun, previously a Scientology Auditor says of auditing: "It's a fairly simple device. It's literally a resistance meter." This whole tawdry, sinister organisation leaves a nasty taste in the mouth & my opinion is as many people as possible need to be awakened to the dangers Scientology poses. Hopefully a knock on effect will be other people will be brave enough to come forward, break rank & expose the sinister goings on within the Scientology sect. Thanks to John Sweeney. In 1968, World in Action spent tens (maybe hundreds?) of thousands of dollars and countless man-hours tracking L. Ron Hubbard down. Once they found him (and back in the editing room), the smear campaign came to fruition.
