Lieutenant-General Sir Jeremiah "Jerry" Mateparae, GNZM, QSO (born 14 November 1954) is the Director of the New Zealand Government Communications Security Bureau and the Governor-General Designate of New Zealand. He was Chief of the New Zealand Defence Force between 2006 and 2011, the first Māori person to hold the office. His appointment as Governor-General Designate was announced on 8 March 2011 and he takes office in August 2011.
