James Philip Milner (born 4 January 1986) is a footballer who plays as a winger or central midfielder for Premier League club Manchester City and the England national team. He previously played for Leeds United, Swindon Town, Newcastle United and Aston Villa. He is mainly a winger but is versatile and can deputise at both full-back positions when needed. In the 2009 10 season he was utilised in a more central position by Aston Villa.

Milner's talent in football, cricket, and long-distance running was recognised when he was a child. He represented his school in these sports and played football for amateur teams from Rawdon and Horsforth. He supported Leeds United from a young age and was a season ticket holder at the club. In 1996 he joined the Leeds United youth academy and worked his way up. He made his debut for the first team in 2002, aged only 16, and gained prominence as the youngest player to score in the Premier League.

While at Leeds United, he spent time on loan at Swindon Town to gain experience as a first-team player. Following his move to Newcastle United, he was loaned to Aston Villa for a season. He had since established himself as a regular starter in the Newcastle, and later the Villa and Manchester City first teams. He made more than 100 appearances for Newcastle, as well as making a record number of appearances for the England under-21 team. He made his debut for the full team against Netherlands in August 2009 and also played at the 2010 World Cup

Tranquillo Barnetta scores Switzerland's second goal in their Euro 2012 qualifer game at Wembley, 4 June 2011 Update 21/2/2012: thanks for all the comments, folks. I'd just like the record to show that I don't think it was Joe Hart's fault. In the immediate aftermath of the game it looked that way, particularly in the light of the first goal where he didn't cover himself in glory either (you can see that at www.youtube.com , but I recommend you don't - it's a terrible video). In retrospect, the fault is all Milner's. I won't change the title of the video though because I don't want anyone to look foolish in comments. Can't say fairer than that!

Sergio Ramos, the Real Madrid full back was caught on camera with an exotic football trick ahead of his side's loss against England on Saturday. --- Frank Lampard nets the winner against World Champions at Wembley. England picked up a memorable win at Wembley in their first outing since a place at UEFA EURO 2012 was secured as World and European Champions Spain were put to the sword by Fabio Capello's men. On the day the Lord Mayor's Show took place on the streets of London, it was far from a let down as a hardened and determined display from the Three Lions saw them inflict a rare defeat on a strong Spanish line-up. The match-winner arrived early in the second half, when captain Frank Lampard headed home from close range and whilst the visitors made a valiant effort to get themselves back level, the true English spirit shone through with some characteristic hard work, courage and expert defending. As expected though, Spain pressed England high up the pitch from the very start which gave the defence plenty to think about, but at the same time also left swathes of room for midfielders Phil Jones and Lampard to break into when the Three Lions won the ball. With man-of-the-match Scott Parker doing a fine job of picking up the pieces in front of the back four, it was often Jones who found himself with space to run into and on one occasion his slide rule pass found Darren Bent narrowly offside in what would have been a promising position. For all of Spain's possession in the ...

Scott Parker won the Man Of The Match after a strong defensive and all round display against the Worls Champions. FATV captured a fine moment from the Spurs midfielder as he put his body on the line to stop a dangerous VIlla free kick. You know how it is. Youre sitting at home, drinking tea, watching Leeds United beat Manchester United in the FA Cup, cringing as Wayne Rooney tries his hardest to equalise by hitting a shot straight at the goalkeeper rather than into the top corner, and you wonder: how accurate are Premiership footballers? The answer, you would think, is: very. But we didnt want to take anyones word for it, so we encouraged Aston Villa and England player James Milner to kick footballs at FHMs resident masochist Stuart Hood from a variety of distances, all in the name of seeking out the truth. Like Bernstein and Woodward, with shin pads.

Often linked with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United, Ashley Young has built himself a reputation as one of the most dangerous footballers on the planet. With a devastating shot, and an inch perfect cross, Ashley Young is a threat to any defence as he carves them open time after time. Despite the rumors, Young has confirmed his commitment to Aston Villa, the team that gave him his chance. He recently spoke of how he would be more than happy to sit down and sign a new contract. Proving himself more than a fantastic player, but as a model professional too! Despite the faith his club put in him when paying out 12 million Great British Pounds to Newcastle, Milner had no intentions of repaying them with a few extra years of service. Instead, he packed his bags for his next big payday. I wish you all the best in Manchester, James. Regardless of your selfish acts, i will never forget some of the great memories you made for us Villa fans. Heres a compilation of some of your best moments in a Villa shirt!
