Imam Khomeini International Airport ( , forudgah-e bein-ol-melali-yé Imam Khomeini) is located in Ahmadabad, Iran. The airport is located about 30 km (18.6 mi) southwest of the city near the localities of Robat-Karim and Eslamshahr. It was designed to replace Mehrabad International Airport, which is in the west of the city, now inside the city boundaries. The airport, originally designated as Ahmadabad, is now named after Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
