The króna (plural krónur) (sign: kr; code: ISK) is the currency of Iceland. The króna is technically subdivided into 100 aurar (singular eyrir), but in practice this subdivision is no longer used.

The word króna, meaning "crown", is related to that of other Nordic currencies (such as the Danish krone, Swedish krona and Norwegian krone) and to the Latin word corona ("crown"). The name "Icelandic crown" is sometimes used, for example in the financial markets.

Icelandic krona Video

www.youtube.com www.youtube.com As you know, George Galloway has made arguments against the breakup of Scotland from the rest of the United Kingdom in the light of the Scottish National Party gaining an overall majority in the Scottish Parliament. A caller debates with George Galloway highlighting that Scotland could have a competitive and therefore, a strong currency. Galloway challenges the caller by asking him if the currency would be as great as the Icelandic Króna. Originally broadcasted on 13th May 2011.

This is my first video. I know it's not very good but I was actually just trying out my new camcorder :) I live in Iceland and at the moment we don't have any money (well, all our money is worthless) so this film is about how all of a sudden you can go from being rich to being poor. I promise, my next video will be much better :)

Go to 0:55 for the discussion related to tax cuts. A caller calls and mentions about First Minister Alex Salmond (Scottish National Party) having a trick up his sleeve like cut corporation tax, to which Galloway scoffs that policy decision because it would result in the most wealthiest companies paying less tax. What is the gain in that and were would they get the money from that? The problem is the the SNP is a centre LEFT party and more likely, they would RAISE taxes on the wealthiest. Originally broadcasted on 13th May 2011.
