The House of Representatives of Nigeria is the lower house of the country's bicameral National Assembly. The Senate of Nigeria is the upper house.

The current House of Representatives, formed following elections held in April 2011, has a total of 360 members who are elected in single-member constituencies using the simple majority (or first-past-the-post) system. Members serve four-year terms. The Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives is the presiding officer of the house. The current Speaker is Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. He was elected on 06 June 2011.

A free-for-all fight broke out on the floor of the Nigerian House of Representatives on June 22, 2010. It arose as members who opposed to the embattled speaker of the house, Dimeji Bankole, tried to introduce a motion for his impeachement.

Patricia Olubunmi Etteh faced a committee of the house over accusations that she had authorised the spending of 628 million Naira on renovations of her official residence and that of her deputy, and the purchase of 12 official cars meant for the House of Representatives. She was consequently removed as the speaker on October 30, 2007 over the allegations, though she was never officially indicted. On June 2, 2011, she spoke at the valedictory session of the house challenging anyone with information of her wrong-doings to make such information public. The house subsequently passed a resolution lifting all forms of indictments that led to her removal as Speaker.
