The

|} are a Japanese professional baseball team based in Sapporo, Hokkaidō. They compete in the Pacific League of Nippon Professional Baseball, playing the majority of their home games at the Sapporo Dome. The Fighters also host a select number of regional home games in cities across Hokkaidō, including Hakodate, Asahikawa, Kushiro, and Obihiro. The team's name comes from its parent organization, Nippon Ham, a major Japanese food processing company.

Founded in 1946, the Fighters called Tokyo home for 58 years, as co-tenants of the Tokyo Dome with the Central League's Yomiuri Giants near the end of their tenure in the capital city. The franchise has won two Japan Series titles, in 1962 and 2006.

Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters Video

This is one of the Nippon Ham Fighters "chance themes", which are special songs sung during situations when the team is more likely to score a run. However, this particular film is of the ouendan at the Seibu Dome, on Oct 19th, AFTER the game had ended. The Fighters won the game, so all the fans were staying after the game to practice the cheer music for fun. This chance theme is called "shikishikibanban", or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It was started this year in Chiba as a Kanto-area chance theme, kind of as a response to the Jingiskan theme. In my honest opinion, and this isn't just because I went to around 20 Fighters games this year or anything, this theme is the MOST fun out of all of the ones we have :P The jumping is reminiscent of the old Yukio Tanaka cheer, and the dividing into men and women is really cute-sounding. Everyone really gets into this cheer, it's great. We were practicing the theme with Yuuji Iiyama as the player because... uhh... actually I have no idea why, but it was funny at the time.

The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters winning the Japan Series on October 26th, 2006 by defeating the Chunichi Dragons 4-1, taking the series and the championship 4 games to 1. This has clips of the last out, the celebration, and some comments from manager Trey Hillman and the game's MVP Atsunori Inaba. WBC champs, Japan Series champs, and 2nd place in the biggest Japanese high school tournament: Hokkaido kicks the world's arse in baseball. *Sorry for the poor quality. I only have an antenna.

This is one of the Nippon Ham Fighters "chance themes", which are special songs sung during situations when the team is more likely to score a run. However, this particular film is of the ouendan at the Osaka Dome, on Oct 12th, AFTER the game had ended. The Fighters won the first stage of the Pacific League playoffs, so all the fans were staying after the game to practice the cheer music in order to sing it better at the second stage of the playoffs. This chance theme is called "jingiskan", or "Genghis Khan", and is supposedly the Sapporo-only chance theme, but it seems to make its way into other stadiums around Japan from time to time as well. Jingiskan is a kind of grilled lamb that people eat in Hokkaido, it's pretty famous, so it makes people think of Hokkaido and the Fighters. We were practicing the theme with Inaba as the player.
