Herman Wouk Video

Iolanthe Woulff (Lannie to her friends) came into the world as the son of author Herman Wouk, grew up, and during her transition to womanhood while still a man, met and married Joleene, now Joleene Wouk. The duo are happily and legally married in the state of California where they were married as a heterosexual couple. Now both legally women, their marriage is still intact. Yes, Lannie is now a woman. Was she previously a heterosexual man who is now a lesbian? Did Joleene fall in love with a man or a woman? Did she go from being a heterosexual woman to being a lesbian because of her husband's sexual reassignment? Are they not, in fact, simply the couple next door? Tune in to Action Equals Life: The Series, the companion series to the web site, ActionEqualsLife.com, founded by multimedia entertainment activist Nicholas Snow. In this video, also get the scoop about Lannie's forthcoming novel, "She's My Dad." She may have one of the world's most famous and respected authors as a father, but Lannie is intent on making her own way using her own talent - quite a novel idea! All episodes are available at www.ActionEqualsLife.com. (Lannie's book is set for release later in 2009. For updates, stay tuned to ActionEqualsLife.com).

ABOUT THE GUEST: Iolanthe Lannie Woulff was born a boy in New York City. She grew up on the Caribbean island of St. Thomas, attended high school in Washington DC and in 1973 graduated with a degree in English from Princeton. Twenty-five years later Ms. Woulff commenced the complex process of gender transition. Now happily married to wife Joleene, Lannie enjoys weekly strolls in the Palm Springs sunshine with her sprightly ninety-four-year-old father, the author Herman Wouk (see www.Iolanthewoulff.com). ABOUT THE BOOK: "Hate destroys everything. Don't let it destroy you..." - A cautionary tale about the consequences of blind prejudice, SHES MY DAD tells the story of a transsexual woman named Nickie Farrell, who, returning to her Northern Virginia alma mater to teach English to a new generation of scholars, is unaware that in the nearby town lives a son from an illicit love affair she had during her male undergraduate days. As Nickies hopes to keep a low profile are dashed by an overly-ambitious lesbian journalism student, a dying reactionary billionaire hatches a scheme to obliterate the despised liberal school with a suicide dirty bomb attack. Local and college people alike become ensnared in a web of bigotry and mistrust, while one long-buried family secret may offer the only hope for everyones ultimate deliverance. Filled with richly-drawn characters and building to a stunning climax, SHES MY DAD is a story about the destructiveness of hate, the power of love, and the ...

This is the movie bit that comes/came on the original Don't Stop the Carnival CD put out by Jimmy based on the fun novel by Herman Wouk bearing the same title. Jimmy's crew I believe did the show at coconut grove where it ran for a bit. I think it even saw a very short stint on Broadway, but not too sure about that. Of course, that was with actors and not Jimmy so you lose some major talent there ;) ENJOY! Thank you Jimmy!! Keep on surfing/fishing/making music for money!!
