Hattiesburg is a city in Forrest County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 44,779 at the 2000 census (51,993 according to 2008 estimate). It is the county seat of Forrest County. In recent years the city has grown to include a portion of eastern Lamar County.

It is the principal city of the Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Metropolitan Statistical Area which encompasses Forrest, Lamar and Perry counties.

Founded in 1882 by pioneer lumberman and civil engineer William H. Hardy, Hattiesburg was named in honor of Hardy's wife Hattie. The town was incorporated two years later with a population of 400. Hattiesburg's population first expanded as a center of the lumber and railroad industries, from which was derived the nickname “The Hub City.” It now attracts newcomers to the area because of the diversity of the economy, strong neighborhoods and the central location in South Mississippi.

Hattiesburg is home to The University of Southern Mississippi (originally known as Mississippi Normal College) and William Carey University (formerly William Carey College). South of Hattiesburg is Camp Shelby, the largest National Guard training base east of the Mississippi River.

What we have here is a video presentation of Hattiesburg MS finest, The Local Boyz!!! For those of you not in the know, the Local Boyz consisted of the duo of Cheap-Dogg and Big Yank. Unfortunately, Big Yank passed away a few years ago and we are doing what we can to keep his hometown legacy alive. Big Yank was near and dear to many of us...it's a shame that we lost him so early in his life. This is a video tribute to Big Yank consisting of 3 songs from the group. Song Listing: The first song in the video is called "Mississippi Boy" and it features the The Local Boyz and the raw talent of another local rapper named Eclipse. That video was shot at a local summer festival that we call 'Juneteenth' a few years back. The second song is called "Drop Low" and it features Cheap-Dogg doing his thang. Great club song and the name says it all! :) The final video is the song that most people down here think of when mentioning the Local Boyz..."Dem Boyz". This song consist of Cheap-Dogg and Big Yank tearing the mic up like only they can. Sidenote: This is an edited, condensed version of the original video that was made. Due to YouTube limitations, the entire original video could not fit. The original vid consists of interviews with family and friends of Big Yank, another freestyle featuring Big Yank, and another Cheap-Dogg song. Big ups to everyone who took part in this video. This project couldn't have been done without you guys. For the people wanting the original video, holla at ...
