Hardin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It was formed in 1793. As of 2008, the population was 98,546. Its county seat is at Elizabethtown. Hardin County is part of the Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Metropolitan Statistical Area, part of the overall Louisville metro area.

The county is named for John Hardin, a Continental Army officer during the American Revolution. President Abraham Lincoln was born in what was then Hardin County near Hodgenville, now part of modern-day LaRue County.
