The track opened as a 1/4 mile dirt oval on June 18th, 1950. It expanded to 1/3 mile in 1974, and closed on August 31st, 2003. John Kaishian owned and promoted the track for 50 years from 1954 through 2003. This race was the first of 17 career feature wins in Sportsmen competition for the 1982 Pro Star Sportsmen rookie of the year Pat "Hacksaw" Heaney.

The Whitey Harris hauler arriving at the Hales Corners Speedway on September 1, 1984 followed later that evening by a special event 4 lap winner take all match race featuring Whitey Harris #1 and George Scheffler #10. At that time, Harris was the defending 1983 Late Model champion and had just clinched the 1984 championship. Harris won 58 features and 5 track championships in his Late Model career at the speedway. George Scheffler won 16 feature events in a Late Model during his career at Hales.
